using same home dir for smb and ftp
« on: March 13, 2002, 12:01:12 PM »
i want to acces my ftp directories over the network like a windows-server.

my problem is:

ftp sided:

all users can write in the incoming directory, only creaters can delete,
admin can do all

samba sided:

normal acces to same directory (as home directory) with abilites
to read/write/create/delete. that means full acces!!

how should the smb.conf and the chmod value for the ftp directories be?

resolved the problem,

i just changed the path in the
[Home] section to my ftp path

and set admin status to my usser accounts which should be able to do so

admin users = user

that´s it.

now there´s another huge problem, when i copy big files to the server
it hangs and nothing works anymore. no difference if ftp or smb copying.

the client looese connection and can´t recover from this state until the
server is restartet

How big are the files you are transferring? If you are going passed 2Gb, you are probably hitting up against a limitation of linux
