Webmail and Logterse
« on: June 07, 2007, 03:17:16 PM »
I'm running SME 7.1.3 in server only mode.  I recently installed the Logterse contrib and have been reviewing the resulting spam filter statistics.  On some days the statistics show one or more emails being sent from Webmail at odd times (ex. 1:00 a.m.), when nobody is in the office.  When I check the messages log, there isn't any evidence of anyone logging into the server to access Webmail.  Is there a way to spot Webmail in the qpsmtd log?

thanks,
pete

Hi Widman

Sorry for the delay - only just seen your posting.

When you say "logterse" do you mean you are running the "mailstats" script that sends you an email every night?

What version are you using? (the version number is on the top of the report).

I did some work on that report, which didn't get put into the "mailstats" rpm as far as I can tell (it has found its way into the 7.2 base I think).

The latest version of my script is found at:

http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/bread/mailstats/spamfilter-stats-7.pl

copy this into /usr/bin and see if you still see the webmail entry in the subsequent reports.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply.

Yes I am running the mailstats script.  I have 0.6.9 installed and still get 1 to 4 entries for webmail, always late at night or early in the morning.  Yesterday's log shows 1 webmail during hour 01 and 3 emails during hour 21.

Please let me know if I can provide any other information.

thanks again,
pete
