Trying to relay mails (550 Relaying denied)

Hi there,


The reason of my post is that I want to relay mail from a specific host.

I'm using SME v7 And the host who will relay by my SME v7 box is in different subnet. This server is acting as a mail server in server mode with a rooter and ports forwarding. Hosts in the same subnet of my SME v7 box are able to relay. I can't use smtp authentication since the box who will relay is a SME v6.

Hi,

I already tried this but it doesn't work.

The thing that I forgot to mention is that what interconnect my subnets, is a layer 3 switch.

Here my setup:

ip int vlan 2 = 172.16.1.1/24
ip int vlan 3 = 172.16.2.1/24

SME v6 box who want to relay by the 172.16.1.2/24 is in vlan 3 and his ip address is 172.2.2/24.

SME v7 box who is the open relay for the host 172.16.2.2/24 is in vlan 2 and his ip address is 172.1.2/24.

In Local network from server-manager network of the SME v7 box, I had the local network 172.16.2.0/24 by the hop 172.16.1.1.
Output of a netstat -rn:
[root@mail ~]# netstat -rn

When I put a windows station in the vlan3 It seem that the "Local network" setup doesn't take effect. So I'm asking to me if there is a way to force it with a command like "config setprop"......

You need a router.

Since SME has no support for vlans, It just don't look at the vlan tagging. (the way I understand the concept)

I already had this problem in the past. The topology was:

Internet--broadband router---smev7 box----lan 192.168.123.0/24-----router----lan 192.168.2.0/24---smev6 box.

This is a different topology, without vlan, and the relaying problem was the same. (in the smev7 box, it has a entry in local network who said: network 192.168.2.0/24 is accessible by 192.168.123.2- the wan of the 192.168.2.0 range)

What exactly do you mean by "is not possible"? What happens when you try to use the SMTP to relay mail?

You should be able to relay mail from local networks. If you cannot, you should open a bug report.

That should work. If it doesn't, please report details via the Bug Tracker.
