FTP Access Fails 550 Access Denied
« on: July 02, 2007, 04:06:25 AM »
I have been searching all morning on the forums and cannot find anty help on this.

I have a 6.1 version and have had no problems with it for years. i recently changed my internal network structure and had to change the server IP address ( running server only mode) I have since then not been able to log intoany of my ftp websites and make changes can upload files and download files but not make changes to the file already there. Get error access denied. I have checked all my user groups ibay setups and user as well as directory permissions for the IBAY have set to 755 and 777 and no difference.

As I said all of this was working fine the only thing i have changed was the IP of the machine and i did add an addtional local network at one stage as i thought I was going to need this so i could get access to server-manager from another subnet turns out i don't requie so I removed. funny thing is if i try to add a network it comes up with this error.

Error: network (derived from network and subnet mask ) has already been added. Did not add new network

However there is only one deafult network listed which is the network that relates to the IP address of the server.

This is realy frustrating as nothing has changed and it has all of a sudden broken. Not sure where to check re the local network any help would be appreciated.

It sounds as though the server only wants to allow access from the old network number -- is it possible that you have a custom template-fragment with the old network number hard-coded into it, or a contrib that doesn't use InternalInterface:Network when setting permissions?

The 'easy' test of this is to change your internal IP back to the old one -- if FTP starts working again then I'm probably on the right track...

Well it turns out it was my ISA firewall I have my SME box sitting in a DMZ and ISA by default filters on FTP, it was all just a matter of turning the filtering off and away it all went, very frustrating as i never would of though ISA could be that tricky given I was logging in and viewing files I didn't think it could intefere with write access but it certainly can.

Thanks
