[SOLVED] SAIL 2.1.15/Asterisk 1.4 HFC ISDN BRI card -- no connection

I'm having problems getting my HFC-ISDN Bri card (Cologne chipset) to work with SAIL 2.1.5 / Asterisk 1.4 / mISDN.
The card is detected and two trunklines are set-up automagically by SAIL but the state stays disconnected. Cable is connected properly, restarted Asterisk, rebooted server but to no avail.  If i fire up the CLI> i'm getting the following messages:

- Remote UNIX connection
    -- Remote UNIX connection disconnected

I also have to manually start asterisk from the commandline after a reboot.
Clues anyone?

Hi Jester

There is an extra step (after the probe) when you use mISDN, you need to click on the card definition (in PCI Cards) and set your card up according to the on-screen instructions.  You then click on the reboot button to reboot the server with the correct mISDN definitions.  Make sure you choose TEPP and the TE bitmask settings if you are running in that mode.

Hi Selintra,

I clicked to edit the card.... but i can't figure out what you mean by on-screen instructions. Can you tell me what needs to be set?!

Regards.

Btw should the misdn kernel module be loaded? Reading voip-info.org it sound like chan_misdn needs misdn.

I'll try and post some screen shots for you tomorrow.

Hi Jester

l rabed some screen shots for you this afternoon.  You can find them here

http://www.selintra.com/docs/cgi-bin/view/Main/DocChapter224

The second shot is the important one from a set-up point of view in 1.4/2.1.15

Hey Selintra,

I've reviewed the settings for the pci-card and left them to the default, what i believe should be ok for connecting my Telco ISDN-line to SAIL. Rebooted the server with the 'commit and reboot' button. But the linkstate of these mISDN trunklines stay disconnected. Incoming calls are not seen by Asterisk if i watch the CLI> commandline.

any suggestions?

I think perhaps you haven't initialised mISDN (no reason why you should have, - this stuff is all alpha and, as yet, undocumented).

Can you post the output of lsmod please?

Hi Mate

You are running the smp kernel.  We can't get mISDN running with the smp kernel at the moment.  Herve is looking at it and I've had a go, but the damned thing just won't poke at the moment.  Reboot with the UP kernel and you should get a result.

Best

OK, will give the UP kernel a go.

I've had a previous issue that i could only use 2 of my 4 msn numbers that come with my home-office Telco ISDN line for calling outward (need this 'cause telephone bill is split on those msn-numbers). Is this solved in 2.1.14 ? If yes i might best use that for now...

regards.
jester.

Yep ... but currently still in Italy (holidays) without enough material to test.

Should be back mid of next week.

Best,
