Polycom Phones with SAIL
« on: August 12, 2007, 10:54:39 PM »
This is just a heads-up...

When provisioning Polycom phones with the latest SAIL, there is a small problem.

SAIL now seems to automatically upper-case the MAC addresses entered when creating a new extension.  The problem is that Polycom phones require a lower-case <macaddress>.cfg file.

To get past this, you must edit the extension after it is created and change all of the upper-case letters to lower-case.  Save and Commit.

Then proceed to provision the phones.

Here is our internal support document for provisioning Polycom phones:

Hi there

Thanks for the heads up.  We have a Polycom 300 here which we like very much but we've never provisioned 'em because we couldn't get hold of the necessary documentation.  These are seriously nice phones and we particularly like the intelligent inteface which guides you through the call and options you have available to you.

I'll put a patch in for you in -507 or -508 to lowercase the hex code in the mac id if its a polycom (we'll probably make it switchable on a device by device basis since some vendors demand uppercase and others lower).

And thanks for the cool documentation on the Polycom.  Someone else just sent us all the stuff on the new Cisco 7991s.  Looks like a busy couple of weeks ...  :-)

Best Regards

Hello All

Thx for great polycom howto I've been able set up polycom prvisioning in a flash thx to your guide. Everything works like charm exept one weird thing when polycoms are connecting from internet in remote mode (from the Wan side of SME) ther are no probs but when they connect from inside (Lan side) I have only one way audio I'm able only to talk (tested other side can hear me) phone is registered and codecs are fine. This problem is valid only for polycom phones tested internal ext with xlite and no probs on the inside. Any Ideas?
