Topic: FTP access issues !!!!!!!!!!

HI,

I have setup a FTP with SME 7.0on a domain : www.sample.com
How do I access the file on the internet ?
I created an i-bay.the i-bay name is : i-bayfiles
is ftp://ftp.sample.com or what ?????
Also,how do i download from an other ftp server to mine ?

Yes,i use any of these forms :

ftp:// ibayname @ftp. domainname
 ftp:// ibayname : password @ftp. domainname

but no result !!!!!!!!

ftp://i-bayfiles@ftp.sample.com but no result !!!!!!!!!!

Have you enabled the FTP in the global configuration (remote access in the server-manager). It's disabled by default, you need to enable it and to allow access from the internet

Now how do i download from and an other ftp server to my i-bay folder ??? by using root prompt ?

wget allows you to download from ftp

try

cd /home/e-smith/files/ibays/i-bayfiles/files
wget ftp://remoteserver/file

But if you do so with the root account, other user won't have permissions on it until you chown to the correct user/group
