Newbie LDAP Question: Adding External Addresses
« on: November 21, 2006, 12:44:49 AM »
Is there a way to add external email addresses and contacts to the LDAP directory?  I would like this to serve as the main "phone book" for everyone who is given access, but I've not been able to figure out how to add anything but "internal" users.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your reply, but is there a difficult way? ;)

Are there tools to modify the LDAP db and insert records?  I'm grasping at straws, but I'm not afraid of going in through the back door to achieve what I need.

Thanks again,

I've been looking into this to. Has anyone had any joy at installing ApacheDS, and using ApacheDS studio for LDAP entries?

Gonna give it a crack now. I shuld have thought a feature rich LDAP on SME would be a priority feature.

It is, but there is so much to do for the developers.

Recently a big step forward was made with the implementation of LDAP as a backend to serve user authentication and user account information (see bug 1543, feel free to continue or add your thoughts and preferrably code to the bugtracker to implement a company wide addressbook. I seem to remember that this was available as a contrib once...
