Sail: Mobile phone in alias group shows no caller id
« on: September 24, 2007, 11:19:08 AM »
Hi together,

I'm using Sail 507 an I have setup an alias group. Members of the alias are an IP-phone and wengophone (softphone running on windows am Linux). I also have connected my mobile phone (t-mobile) to that group. To save an external ISDN-Line (I only have two) I have created a sipgate account and told the alias to route the mobile phone over the sipgate trunk (trunk for external numbers).

This all works fine except the mobile phone doesn't show any caller id (unknown). The sipgate webinterface shows my sipgate number as caller id and not the real caller. Internal phones show the real caller id.

Do I have a chance to get the correct caller id?

Manuel

That how I would expect it to work actually.
As the call to the mobile is being made from your SAIL box thruogh Sipgate, thus your sipgate callieID being shown.

I'm just looking at my call logs trying to find a call that has been transferred to my mobile, but can't find one at this point as I'm sure mine shows the correct caller ID.

If I find it I'll post back

Hi

In theory you can set a caller-id on outbound so you could relay the original caller id forward.  However, in the real world, I don't know of any carrier who will accept a callerid in this way.  In most countries there is legislation to prevent you from putting arbitrary caller-ids onto a line (even if you are doing it innocently - as in this case).  This is in everyone's interest because it prevents callers from deliberately falsifying their caller-id, either for fraudulent or other questionable reasons.

Hi All,

This is a big problem for me.  Here is why:

On my main IVR, I have a Tech Support sub-menu (IVR).  On that Tech Support IVR, I have an Emergency Contact sub-menu (IVR).  On our Emergency Contact IVR, we use hunt groups that will ultimately dial our mobile phones.

The problem is, caller ID is not passed...internally (SIP phones) or externally (mobile phone).  It appears that any time an alias is involved in an IVR, no caller ID is passed.  BTW, tags don't seem to work either.

Now I don't know about you, but I don't answer my mobile (or any other call) that says "Unavailable" for the caller ID!

We use a SIP provider with unlocked caller ID...we can specify out outbound (numeric) only) caller ID.  Our outbound caller ID works fine if not in the context of an IVR.

Furthermore, I think this used to work properly, but I don't know what might have precipitated the change.

Can anyone duplicate this and illuminate a fix or workaround?

Thanks in advance,

G

Maybe this is why mine appears to be working. It wasn't setup using aliases, they didn't exist then. My diversion to my mobile is a divert from a non existant extension as it was the only way I could get it working back then...

HI guys,

This stuff is pretty deep in the AGI, however I understand your requirement (we have a lot of bounce-to-mobile users) so I guess we'll at least have to look at providing the mechanics (then it's up to you if the carrier will accept the CLI).  I am anyway, not massively happy with the way Aliases do their outbound (it doesn't work well for T1/E1 users) so this may be a chance to have that area revisted.  It also fits nicely with the sms work we are doing with Multi-Tech for system remote self-diagnostic alerts (too cool for school!).

It'll not be our usual quick turnaround. Aliases are, by there very nature, a pretty complex part of the AGI.  Usually we can implement your change requests very quickly because of the rock-solid nature and convenience of the AGI,  for example, we did the basic 1.2 to 1.4 changes in about an hour - it's taken the poor guys over at freePBX 6 months and they still are only at Beta because they have effectively, had to rewrite their extensions code generator.  We didn't need to change a single line of ours.

Kind Regards

S
