DNS register problem - SME 7.2
« on: October 31, 2007, 06:27:02 PM »
I've just upgraded my mail server to 7.2, and it also works as a gateway for the internet in my LAN. It's been working great. But I just notice, that i can´t access my website which it's in another server.

The thing is, that when I try to tracert the website in a PC in my LAN it shows the old IP address, so I tried to config the new IP address to the other server in my mail server, but it doesn't change anything. I've also checked my DNS servers and they all show the new ip address.

And finally i try to refresh the dns register in my mail server but it saids that the nscd doesn't exist.

Would someone help me plzzzz. I don't know what else i can do to fix it.

You could try using a proxy on the web (for instance this one: http://www.megaproxy.com/freesurf/) if users outside your domain can access your webserver properly, if so the problem lies on your SME Server. Try and see if you can access your website from behind your SME Server using the ip number of your server that is hosting your webserver if you can access your server like that you perhaps need to modify the ip-number www.yourdomain.extension is linked to, it might be linked to your IP the server is running on instead of the ip number of the other server. You can do this per server-manager in the Hostnames and addresses page.

Thanks for answering.

I've already done those test. And the site works fine outside the sme server. And also I have gone to hostnames and address of the server-manager and config the www to remote the ip adress of the webhosting server. but the problem continuous.

The only thing that I can't do is the flushdns, I'de tried the command /etc/rc.d/init.d/nscd restart (which work in the sme 7.0) and now it says that the deamon doesn't exists.

Perhaps you now a command that I can use, or something else I can do.
