User changes to a group remove the Ibays from that group.
« on: October 11, 2007, 09:59:11 AM »
Hi,

I run SME 7.1 and I have noticed what I figure to be a bug though would like to hear other peoples experience with it. I have searched for a related topic and have failed to find anything so I come to believe this is not a common problem.

The problem,
I have several ibays that are owned by a group, for examples sake lets call it "upload". The intention is that people as part of this group have samba access to these ibays on the local network as well as external ftp access.
When adding or removing users from the "upload" group the ibays are removed from it (/etc/group). This poses a significant security problem when these ibays are also accessible via proftpd. When logging into one of these ftp accessible ibays with a ftp client the client will point to the root of my filesystem tree with write access to the entire tree.

I can push all the ibays back into the group by modifying and saving each one that has ftp access after making user/group changes.
When the ibays are part of the "upload" group they point in the right spot under the "/home/e-smith/files/ibays/$ibay/files".
Any help would be fantastic.

Regards,
Scorched
