Problem copying files
« on: November 01, 2007, 07:40:34 AM »
Hi

When I copy a file or a group of files into any samba share, I am getting this error and the Windows Explorer stops responding which causes the OS to stop working

Cannot copy filename : Path too deep

Is this a problem with a setting in the smb.conf?

Regards

Google around a bit on "Path too deep"

I looked at a few entries which suggest this is a Windows issue, not a samba/SME issue.

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

I have solved it....
It was basically a hardware issue.... I have two networks NET1 and NET2 which are connected through wifi with each other. NET1 is the primary and NET2 is the secondary. NET1 is connected to a Linksys WAP545G AP(Transmitter) and in NET2 I have used a DLINK DWL2100AP which is in repeater mode. The SME  is in NET2.

There was this setting in DLINK that i had mistakenly set i.e Dynamic Turbo. I had not realised that the dynamic turbo mechanism was not supported by the linksys system. So there were a lot of packets being dropped. When I disable the Dynamic Turbo; it is now back to normal.
