Problems reading DAR2 archive files?
« on: November 06, 2007, 09:59:28 PM »
Hello,

 I have created a large DAR2 backup file (2 files, 4.4Gb, and 2.2Gb).

However attempting to open these files, I get corrupted or missing information errors.

I have tried to open them as a split file, and it still fails.

Are these files kept in any special type of format?

If I need to extract specific files from the archive, how can I do so?

Although dar's latest supports file sizes beyond 2GB, this is highly discouraged. Hence my panel text still states: Note the maximum segment size is 2000MB.

[root@mail ~]# dar -V

dar version 2.3.5, Copyright (C) 2002-2052 Denis Corbin
   Long options support       : YES

Using libdar 4.4.0 built with compilation time options:
   Libz compression (gzip)    : YES
   Libbz2 compression (bzip2) : YES
   Strong encryption          : YES
   New Blowfish implementation: YES
   Extended Attributes support: NO
Large files support (> 2GB): YES
ext2fs NODUMP flag support : YES
   Special allocation scheme  : YES
   Integer size used          : unlimited
   Thread safe support        : YES

Dar is a unique file format.

Use the panel to extract specific files. Use the /opt/dar2-mc plugin.
