>>All except the NIC was working just fine.
THAT sounds bad enough for me
...and when INTEL (as a strong Linux supporter) does say "not supported" it usually does mean:
We will not make it work or even help. at least in my experience.
As to SIS support in kernel(s)... I have been burned enough by the SIS guys...
NEVER hurt following INTEL advice

Of course everyone is free to try, code or buy "not manufacturer supported" stuff
I was just trying to give "free info".

Free info appreciated!!
I actually bougth that Intel board thinking Intel would for sure work

Got a little disappointed there...
So i actually bought another Intel board with an Intel chipset thinking NOW it will work. Well it did, except for the NIC......... Duh! But this had 2 PCI slots so i could put 2 network cards in and it runs perfekt now. And no, it's not with Linux support..
I never saw the chart you linked to, if i had i would have thought twice before buying.
I guess that's why they are cheap in price then with not much support.
Buying something cheap for a homeserver is really not easy. So far i have used VIA Mini ITX boards but they have given me a few problems as well, and i don't think they perform well enough for what i do anymore.
