braindead here - remote and local access help please
« on: April 03, 2002, 11:43:24 AM »
howdy - I've been working on this problem for two days and my brain is apparently fried. This is SME 5.1 I've searched the forums and have been unable to find anything specific to my problem

I have an ibay setup for internal use as a window share for company data - works fine. It is assiged to a specific group "group a" Public access via ftp, etc. is set to none

I have a second ibay setup for external ftp access

this ebay.is setup as access: group=everyone, rw access,
public access=entire internet, no password

When I ftp to this ibay, people can then browse the first ibay
and see my data! I've tried everyother combination of settings
'til i'm looping on myself.

This is obviously a very common setup type for SME so I either in
pre-alzheimers or this is not a common setup, which is impossible
to believe.

TIA,
littlalex
frantic and beyond deadline

I had noticed that too before I decided to disable ftp entirely. Looks like a genuine bug. You may want to report it to the bugs dept.

If one goes to the public bay as anonymouse or at least doesn't have a user name and password then at least the important ibay is not readable.

Better have at least 8 character passwords preferably 12 to prevent crackers.
