Spam in the Admin Account
« on: December 07, 2007, 12:54:10 AM »
Can anyone advise me as to why the spam builds up in the admin account and not deleted as per the users account settings. There can be up to 6000 emails in the admin junkmail box taking up space on a server that is running very well. Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Thanks for a really good product and the work you guys do in keeping it up and running.  8-)

.junkmail maintenance is performed daily using /etc/e-smith/events/actions/purge-junkmail-folders.

It looks like /etc/e-smith/events/actions/purge-junkmail-folders is looking for Admin's ".junkmail" folder in /home/e-smith/Maildir/.junkmail.

- Is your admin .junkmail folder in the right place, and still named ".junkmail"?

- Is there anything in /var/log/messages saying why admin is not being purged?

- do you get any useful output from running /etc/e-smith/events/actions/purge-junkmail-folders ?

- Is the purge working, but admin gets so much spam that it looks like it isn't?  (That is, even though you have thousands of messages in admin's .junkmail, are they all newer than your MessageRetentionTime?)

you
