after searching the forums and reviewing the docs again, I can't seem to find a solution to my problem.
Background: I had SME 7.1 installed on a modern Dell rack mount server. The server was up-to-date and current with the latest rpms and running backup via rsync. Suddenly, two SCSI hard drives on this server failed - Time to rebuild. So after replacing the drives (different manufacturer), I decided to reinstall and update to the latest version - i.e. SME 7.2. The install went up without a hitch. The basic server install was performed, users were added, primary domain, secondary domain, ibays, etc. The system was running fine. I restored the users email and after tinkering with the user groups and ownership rights, everyone could access email from client software, server installed applications worked, webmail access works, and server manager works within the LAN. Likewise, the WAN was tested and everything seems to be working there too.
The server is set to server-only mode as gateway functionality is run via a firewall located somewhere else. The additional local networks were added and seem to be a replica of the old system install.
Problem: While the system works fine, and access to the server is available via the LAN and WAN, there is no VPN access (and which is required in this environment) to any of the web services via domain name. This includes on demand VPNs as well as continuous VPNs. There are two domains and there is access the other domain website via IP but not domain name.
Basically, all was working fine before the rebuild. And thus far, all but http access via domain name works after the rebuild.
Solution: ??
- Validated connectivity via IP - everything works via IP.
- Other servers still function via the VPN connections. The only change has been this server install.
- Thinking something was corrupted with a partial user data restore, a server reinstall was performed - still the same results.
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
