Forum searched. Received hits on NFS howto's dated back to 1999. I don't think I want to bork my nice smeserver system by entering old time, backwater commands that were current when smeserver was RedHat based. I followed the instructions given in
http://sme.firewall-services.com/spip.php?article11 to the best of my abilities.
but when I type
showmount -a, I get an error. It may have something to do with portmap.
showmount -a
mount clntudp_create: RPC: Port mapper failure - RPC: Unable to receiveWhat can I do to fix this? Also my /etc/hosts.deny file has
ALL: ALL, which can't be good, can it?
UPDATE: I have felt obligated to contribute financially to three or four other Linux distros. I was using their software and my questions were answered in their forum. But neither of those criteria apply here.
UPDATE: It's OK, guys, never mind. I went to Debian, a real linux. NFS server was simple to setup by an edit of /etc/exports. Have a nice New Year!
