Mailing list messages going to wrong domain?
« on: June 25, 2008, 11:08:23 PM »
I have a number of domains setup on my SME 7.3 box. I subscribed to a mailing list using my work account, and the messages are coming in addressed to firstname.lastname@server.workdomain.co.uk yet it is appearing in my personal account, on my personal domain (firstname@server.personaldomain.org).

This hasn't been a great problem as until recently I was collecting both work and personal mail on the same machine and simply filtering mail from one account into another. However now I collect my personal mail on a different PC and I'm receiving mailing list messages which appear to be correctly addressed to my work account and domain in my personal account and domain.

Any insight anyone can offer into this?

If you have one user name on the server, all mail from any domain addressed to that user will come to that mailbox. For example:

Username=jarthurs
First name= jerry
Last name = arthurs

Pseudos= jerry.arthurs, jerry_arthurs, etc.

Domains= workdomain.com, personaldomain.com

All mail addressed as jarthurs@workdomain.com, or jarthurs@personaldomain.com or any of the Pseudos will go to the jarthurs mailbox.

One possible workaround:

setup a new user=jerry
you can now use firstname@personaldomain.com and it will come to the jerry account. You would then check the jerry account on your personal machine and the jarthurs account on your work machine.

(you will need to make sure that all your personal contacts us jerry@personaldomain.com and all work contacts us jerry.arthurs or jarthurs@workdomain.com)
