I appreciate this forum is for sme server base release, but am posting this message in all forums to spread the word, so I ask the moderators to leave this post in situ, which is mostly a rehash of what has been said elsewhere.
There is a call for nominations for Business Manager here
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=39718.0and other related discussions here
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=39713.0It appears as per constitution that 3 positions are required to be filled, see
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/smeserver/contribs/rmcnew/SME_Community_Constitution/rtf/What would qualify you to be a good candidate? You definitely don't need to be a developer or technical person - as has been proven, development is a meritocracy that will continue even with lack of business leadership. But someone with a better business vision for SME Server would help the development and user community immensely. The Project/Business Manager should be someone with a vision of:
- how to make SME Server a more popular distribution
- how to encourage and reward the developers
- how to collect donations and/or fees from a larger percentage of the community of people that use SME Server
And of course someone with the spare time to do all this...
