DNS configuration
« on: February 06, 2008, 03:19:43 PM »
Hi,
I made a new machine in my office with SME 7.1 and everything working fine, but I have an issue how to allow dynamic DNS registered host at internet (mycompany.dnname.xx) which has my static outside IP assigned to point at my internal web server which isn't a SME server. I was reading a lot and trying a lot of things to enable this but I couldn't do it. Between internet and SME server I have ADSL router on which I can open certain ports if it is needed (port forward). Machine on which is SME installed don't have two network adapters, machine has one network adapter and SME is setup as "Server only".

Please help me if any one knows how to do this!

Not exactly sure what you mean, but it sounds as if you need to forward port 80 in the ADSL router to your (non SME) webserver.

That too, I know how to do that. But I need general explanation how to allow to internet clients to type in browsers "mycompany.ddns.nu" and to get a web content of my internal server with "webserver.mycompany.local" named. As I thinking SME should be some kind a DNS forwarder or not!? And what in that case to forward at adsl router?!
