FTP errors changing CHMOD
« on: February 27, 2008, 07:56:37 PM »
Hi

I'm new to SME but not so new to Linux.

I've created my Default website which i can access via a browser adn FTP. But when i try and change the CHMOD of a file i receive the following error

STATUS:>     [27/02/2008 18:49:52] Changing file attributes "administrator".
COMMAND:>   [27/02/2008 18:49:52] SITE CHMOD 770 /ibays/Primary/html/administrator
      [27/02/2008 18:49:52] 550 CHMOD 770 /ibays/Primary/html/administrator: No such file or directory
ERROR:>      [27/02/2008 18:49:52] Requested action not taken (e.g., file or directory not found, no access).

I'm logged in as admin, The config is set to Allow public access, Accept password from anywhere & Secure Shell set to No Access. I'm using CuteFTP v8 Pro

Anyone have any ideas

Cheers

Unless I misunderstand, you should be logged in as root to change an SME folder/file permission using either ssh from a pc or as console.

The two passwords are the same. If you ssh/putty into the server (or use console) and log in using admin/password, you will get the SME server configure menu. If you use root/password you will get the command line.
