Lan Clients not working behind router

Hey all,

I have put sme6 behind a dlink adsl router and port forwarded to ports 25 and 110. External clients and send/receive mail ok but lan clients receive the following message:

The specified server was found, but there was no response form the server. Please verify that the port and ssl information is correct. also:

Log onto incoming mail server (pop3): The specified server was found, but there was no response from thje server. Please verity that the port and ssl info is correct.

Is there another port I need to open ? - anyone !

Regards
Paul M :-(

Port 22 for SSL ?
But that ought to be required by external clients too (https).

Does sme6 use ssl by default? Why did it I get mail externally without it ?

Thanks Paul

Which type of internal clients are we talking about here ?
Webmail or 'Outlook'-type ?
I presume that external clients use the webmail interface, right ?
And of course your internal clients can 'see' their home-folders, right ?
. . so there is no problem accessing the server in other respects, only as a mailserver, right ?

I'll have to get back to you later today, when I get home.
I don't use Outlook very much (I prefer webmail), but have a working setup, so I'll check my own settings on a W2K-box.

Well here I am again.
I have checked my own Outlook-setup, and there is nothing peculiar about it.
In the servers panel you just put your qualified domain name (ie. mydom.countrycode) without a 'mail.' prefix in the fields for Pop3 incoming and SMTP outgoing both. Likewise you put username and password in the assigned fields.
The connection panel shuld of course refer to LAN, and the advanced panel should reflect ports 25 and 110 respectively.
That works for me.

Good luck !

Use SME server as your DNS and WINS even if its behind your firewall.
