Blocking Streaming Video with Dansguardian
« on: March 04, 2008, 02:42:23 AM »
Hi all,

I need to block streaming video with dansguardian but don't seem to be able to get it to work.

I've blocked out some main sites like youtube ect ... but i really need to stop ALL streaming video.

I tried adding video extenisons to the the bannedextensionlist, but they cfan still play videos (specifically http://www.seven.com.au)

Anyone know how I can stop all streaming video ?

Any help appreciated.

Cheers,

Hi, thanks for the reply,

I have all the common ones blocked, I also have them set in bannedmimetypes.

The only thing that seems to get through is the adobe flash player ones. If you look on the site http://au.tv.yahoo.com/tv/ you can see on the page a typical adobe flash player movie. I can't seem to block them.

The extension for flash player is .swf .... got it in the list. Also the mimetype is application/x-shockwave-flash. Got it listed too.

Hmmm... I just noticed there is more than one mimetype for flash:

application/x-shockwave-flash
application/x-shockwave-flash2-preview
application/futuresplash
image/vnd.rn-realflash

I'll put the other 3 in and see what happens :)

Cheers,
