A couple of questions about callback
« on: May 08, 2008, 05:26:46 PM »
I was just looking at the callback feature and have a couple of questions I hope someone can answer. Do I need a dedicated incoming trunk to set as callback? If not what happens if someone calls the number and is not on the callback list? Can it go to a IVR menu item or extension?
Thanks,
Del

Hi Del.

It needs a dedicated DDI or VoIP number.  It was really developed for T1/E1 circuits but it will also work OK with SIP.  Because it never actually terminates the inbound call (so the caller isn't charge for the dial-in) it cannot drop to an IVR if the caller isn't in the authorized list.   It simply won't do the call back if you aren't authorized.

Best
