Did you already tried
Code: [Select]
yum clean all before trying the update again? If that fails lplease raise a bug as updates should work, certainly when you have a new clean install from CD.

I had exactly the same problem here. By selecting only blocks of packages I was able to install all of them, except for backup.

I tried  with "yum clean all" and run after "yum update" but no changes for me ..same problem ;(

Since yesterday i tried to install five times. Last two times i also tried to update by selecting only blocks of packages but now i  get a nice server error.

Please contact the server administrator, admin and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

I give up now!

This seems to have been a mirror problem. The mirror is unavailable and the installation has now proceeded successfully.

However, since a problem with one mirror causes more problems with the others, I wonder whether this bug should stay open?

Comments, please.

I'm going to update the bug now accordingly, but will leave it open for now.

Well, I guess my question has just been answered, as somebody closed the bug.

However, I believe that still leaves the issue with one "faulty" mirror causing problems unresolved.

I think I'll leave that to those folks here who are used to how things are done around here. I'm a newbee.

Thanks for your time.
Peter.

I did not close the bug, I marked it as resolved as issues seemed to be resolved judging from the comments in the bug. Judging from this (http://mirror.contribs.org/mirrors/ ) there are no errors anymore except one outdated mirror.

If you disagree please reopen the bug (or even better in this case open a new one specific to the mirror you are having issues with), as that is how things work around here. You are better of posting your comments to the bug rather than opening and/or commenting to a parallel thread and discussing things here as well.

People concerned with the care over services of contribs.org are reading the forums but do not have the time to read all threads. They however get notified of bug reports and added comments.

Thanks for the clarification.

As I had a problem with a different mirror than the one at the beginning of this thread I was going to open a new bug. It seems to me that the checksum error on one mirror causes

[Errno 9] Requested Range Not Satisfiable

on all subsequently tried mirrors, causing further updating to fail.

However, since it is working now I'm not sure whether to raise a bug for a problem that has essentially gone away, although I suspect it will come back for somebody else the next time there is such a problem with a mirror.

I appreciate all the time and effort you people put into this project.

Regards,
Peter.
