first i am not sure if this is the proper place to post this, if it is not the right place, sorry. i am testing out some new hardware for possible future server installations and the install is running very slow. Hardware configuration is as follows:
1. Supermicro X7SBL-LN2 Motherboard with Intel 3200 Chipset and Intel ICH9
2. Intel XEON 3040 Quad Core Processor
3. 4gb DDR2-667 memory chips
4. 4 - Western Digital Cavair SE SATAII 250gb 3gb/s 8mb hard drives jumpered to 150mb/s (software Raid 5 with SME)
5. SATA DVDRW Optical Drive
6. SMEServer 7.3
Setup and install of SME seemed to run ok, but after reboot and bootup for first time (prior to configuration) the software sits at creating quota files for a very long time. It has been at this spot for over 2 hours. Is this a normal amount of time to create these file levels. I have other file servers (not XEON based) with the same hard drives and memory size that do not "stall" at this point of the installation. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Once again sorry if this is posted in the wrong location.
