We host our primary domain (both www and email) on our local SME server. The SME server is our local mail server. We'll call this first domain ABC.com.
We have a secondary domain. We use the SME server to host its website, but have email hosted off-site. We'll call this second domain DEF.com
The DNS is correctly set up, as proven by sending mail from yahoo or gmail to DEF.com. It arrives at the off-site host. This is how things should work.
However, whenever we send mail from the SME server (using email 'xxx@ABC.com') to DEF.com, it always ends up sending the email to the SME server instead of the off-site server.
I've tried the following: 1) changing the IP for mail.DEF.com to the IP for our off-site mailserver. 2) Chaning that domain to resolve with "Internet DNS server" and with "Corporate DNS server."
None of that worked. What do I have to do to get SME to understand that it is ONLY hosting www for DEF.com, and is not supposed to be doing email for that domain?
Thanks,
