Email send / receive issue after Clamav update
« on: May 28, 2008, 12:39:33 AM »
Hello,

Running SME Server 7.2

Had an email message to the admin account that clamav was out of date (0.91.2 and it wanted 0.93) - so I updated clamAV. Now I can't send or receive email.

I have this error in clamd/current:

2008-05-27 18:20:53.755944500 ERROR: Parse error at line 12: Unknown option ArchiveBlockMax.
2008-05-27 18:20:53.755993500 ERROR: Can't open/parse the config file /etc/clamd.conf

I think I get that ArchiveBlockMax is no longer an option in clamd.conf since it's erroring on that line, but I'm unsure how to fix the problem?

Anyone have an idea? I reported this to the Bug tracker as #4380 but I'm guessing it's just idiocy on my part.

TIA

It appears that clamav-db.i386 0.93-2.e14.rf did not get updated along with the other clam av updates.

After doing this update and smeserver-clamav.norarch 1.2.0-21.e14.sme it appears I'm sending and receiving mail again.

Hi,
Could you please tell me how you managed to update that file please?

I got the same problem too on a LIVE system as my system is down.

Thanks in advance
Since I experienced an IRQ conflict, my brain never worked the same!

I can never remember the yum commands but I think I did:

>yum list all

which lists the available packages and then

>yum install <package>

Note: I think you are supposed to update everything together, so this may not be the 'recommended' way to go.

Hope that helps.

Precisely. The reason that you had trouble was because you updated clamav and didn't update smeserver-clamav.

Thanks for verifying. I thought so based on what you said before.

I never did know what I was doing.  :-)

To be honest with you, I let SME do the updates yesterday evening. When it completed, I started getting these errors.

I did not do anything manually.

I don't know if this is a bug.

What do you think?

I'm probably not the best person to advise you, but have you tried a:

>signal-event post-upgrade
>signal-event reboot

You might also try a

>yum list all

to see if anything shows up.

I don't know if this is a bug.

What do you think?

Please always report anything which *might* be a bug via the Bug Tracker. SME server should "just work".

Before I open a bug ticket, do you mind if I ask one last question? (P.S: I am using the SME 7.3)

I noticed that the clamd/currenct log file says:

2008-06-19 06:53:34.021583500 No stats for Database check - forcing reload
2008-06-19 06:53:34.021629500 Reading databases from /var/clamav

2008-06-19 06:53:37.830572500 Database correctly reloaded (315744 signatures)

When I checked the Updates available email that is sent automatically, I noticed the following versions as part of the LONG list :-) :

clamav.i386                              0.93-2.el4.rf          smeupdates
clamav-db.i386                           0.93-2.el4.rf          smeupdates
clamd.i386                               0.93-2.el4.rf          smeupdates
smeserver-clamav.noarch                  1.2.0-21.el4.sme       smeupdates

How can I check that clamav was updated to 0.93-2? I am thinking that, according to the log file, it looks like clamav did not update.

Thanks in advance
