Voicemail 5 minutes of noise
« on: July 25, 2008, 04:16:54 PM »
I don't know why, but if someone leaves a voicemail for any of my extensions I get 5 minutes of noise everytime.

However - recording systems greetings are fine - so it must mean that something in the voicemail might be broken.

What can I check?

I am using the vanilla SARK 7.3 ISO with an 8 port Digium TDM800 card

Maybe they're not leaving you a voicemail, they're hanging up but your card isn't detecting that they hung up.

Even if I leave a voicemail internally - same thing!

If I cannot fix this - Iam going to consider reinstallation

Maybe before you do that you should do a little investigation.  The voicemail control parameters are in headers=>voicemail.conf.   They are the same for everyone (unless they have been changed).  If you are getting 5 minutes of noise (the maximum message length) then asterisk is probabaly not recognising the hangup.  Simple enough to watch this on the asterisk console.  Log onto asterisk with asterisk -rvvvv and then run your call.  Watch what happens when you hangup.  I suspect there is some kind of addressing or firewall issue which is causing mis-recognition of the hangup.

Best

I changed wav49 to wav in the voicemail conf and all is fine now.

I suppose the problem was with the compression software - whatever that might be...

I have another problem though

If a person leaves a voicemail and put down the phone - The message is recorded and processed.

However - if they press # to finish the recording - the system says thank you and terminate the call, but the voicemail is not received anywhere (Not processed)

Thanks so far for the input
