SOLVED: Expired SSL certificate
« on: June 19, 2008, 01:49:08 PM »
Hi all!

Probably an easy one:
My SSL certificate (Sme 7.3) has expired.

How do I regenerate it?

(I searched the forums a bit, but found only very old threads about this...)

EDIT: I finally solved the problem by following the excellent HowTo http://wiki.contribs.org/Certificate, so please forgive me for this stupid monologue...

Have a great day everyone!!!

You didn't need to do that. SME server automatically generates a new certificate before the old one expires. Perhaps you are seeing a known bug:

http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2257

An easy workaround for that problem is to reboot.

Please report any problems you encounter via the bug tracker (after searching for existing reports first).

I have followed the how-to yet I am still getting expired/unknown cert messages when outsiders log onto the site. I had used an older version of the setup, circa 2006.

What/where should I check to clean out any cruft that might be conflicting with the current certificate methods?

I I am still getting expired/unknown cert messages

So which one is it? Or is it both.

And oh.. you should have started a new thread. The SOLVED heading may cause people to overlook further posts.
