« on: November 28, 2009, 11:04:57 PM »
Hi,

After the last update i have problems to use the VPN, i can dialin but i can´t look in my folders.
Also when i try to use winscp, i can´t connect winscp via the VPN.

I tried to boot the old kernel what we have used before the update but without luck.

fpausp, you are experienced enough to know that everything that doesn't work out of the box (but is expected to do) must be reported in bugzilla

please report here the bug reference, thank you

Sorry, i searched the bug tracker and found this:

http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5628

I think that is the problem, there are two patches/fixes but i dont know how to use a patch.

Those patches need to be applied to the source code before the package is build, you can not apply it directly to a running server. You will have to wait for a new release of the package.

I have experienced the VPN issue after the last updates. I've read the bug report listed in this thread but I'm unsure if I should try the fix to a production server. The bug report indicates this should be tried on a test server.

Does anyone have a feel for the risk level? Is there an amount of time I should wait before trying the fix?

Should I have waited longer to apply the updates in the first place until other people have tried them out? It seems like when I update frequently I seem to have more issues. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

I followed the advice given in Bug 5628 and it fixed the VPN problem for me.

In a terminal window, type the following:

yum upgrade *kmod* --enablerepo=smeupdates-testing
signal-event post-upgrade
signal-event reboot
