Squid - upgrade possible?
« on: August 15, 2008, 02:16:17 AM »
We are currently running SME Server 7.3, it comes with Squid Cache: Version 2.5.STABLE14.

Is there a 'pain-free' way of upgrading this to a newer release of Squid i.e. 2.7 or 3.0?

I have tried a yum local install squid-2.6.STABLE20-1.el5.i386.rpm

But there are a number of depedencies required... because it is part of the 'core' I presume we need to wait for v8.0?

I require the newer version as it has several enhancements that will allow for the caching of youtube/google videos (in theory)

TIA,
Bart

no, because you choose el5 rpm, that's for centos5/sme8

according to squid's site, here http://people.redhat.com/mnagy/squid/ you can find the latest stable rpm for el4
