Web interface update hangs...
« on: September 18, 2008, 07:44:26 PM »
I ran yum via the update tab on the web control panel of server manager.  It is hung way down the list at:

  Updating  : util-linux                   ##################### [ 54/168]warning: /etc/my.cnf created as /etc/my.cnf.rpmnew

  Updating  : mysql                        ##################### [ 55/168]

  Updating  : udev                         ##################### [ 56/168]

It has sat here for hours.

Now, this is a mission critical system and if I ignore it, it seems to be serving files.  Somehow I just know that if I reboot the thing, it will fail to boot :-(

How can I gently cancel the hung update process (or even find out what it is doing?)  I can log on as root with Putty, and yum won't run because it says there is another process going.  Is it safe to kill the process, and if so, how?  Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Doug
