Rejected mail
« on: September 21, 2008, 05:14:57 PM »
Hi,

In an SME server (server and gateway) when I try to send message, I get the next failure notice:

...
Connected to 127.0.0.1 but sender was rejected.
Remote host said: 550 5.1.8 invalid/host-not-in-DNS return address not allowed
...

What means this?

Thanks, Norbert

This means that you are trying to send mail with a sender address domain which is invalid, and your ISP's mail server is refusing to accept it.

Thanks!

So, now I must change the senders' address in the mail program. It's correct?

That would be one solution, yes. The other would be to turn the currently invalid domain name into a valid one, which would require you to register the domain and configure DNS for it.
