Topic: Software installer, help the noob!

Have been using SME server at work for about a year and all is good, only using it as a file server and for a little FTP work. Still on the learning curve for this thing.

My question has to do with the software listed under the Available packages. Is there a list of what each of them are for or what they do? I have searched for some of the names on the Wilki and came up empty handed. 

For example, the first one on the list is "4Suite.i386 1.0-3 - base" what is it?

I'm sure they talk about all of these someware, just not sure where.

Try these, these are the www pages of all packages in the SME Server repositories:

smeos: http://mirror.contribs.org/releases/7/smeos/i386/repodata/index.html
smeupdates: http://mirror.contribs.org/releases/7/smeupdates/i386/repodata/index.html
smecontribs: http://mirror.contribs.org/releases/7/smecontribs/i386/repodata/index.html

Some packages (base and updates repository) are taken from CentOS directly and do not have this interface. Perhaps this can be off help in that case: http://rpm.pbone.net/ , hit search and enter the package name without version and architecture it should give you some more information like on the pages above.

You can rest assure that all updates listed for your server are relevant (and tested) as long as you did not enable anything other than the repositories listed here: http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:FAQ#Which_repositories_should_be_enabled

You should not try to only install a subset of them as some of them might be security updates or might be required by other packages. The software installer knows what it does, let it do it's task and try not to intervene (only in very special occasions and when you really know what you are doing).

Yes I had the option to change my Primary Group, I am still a active member of the Documentation Team though.

Although it is closer to 40 than to 30, I do not consider 39 years of age to be old.
