Topic: What to do with spam messages to ezmlm mailing lists?

I have a small server running a couple of ezmlm mailing lists, and it works close to perfectly - except for one problem.

I receive lots of spam mail to these mailing lists. Most of the spam is detected by spamassassin and silently ignored, but some of the spam slips by this filter. As only subscribers are allowed to post to the mailing lists, ezmlm then sends a polite reply to the sender that s/he is not a subscriber and therefore is not allowed to post to the mailing list.

So far so good, except that the apparent sender (the From: address) is unlikely to be the real sender (the spammer), so the effect is probably that some innocent person will receive the ezmlm reject message - including the spam! So effectively my server is acting as a spam distributor, I guess.

I will be very happy to receive some suggestions how to deal with this.
