Topic: Error installing GroupOffice contrib - SOLVED

I've tried to install the GroupOffice contrib following the intructions at: http://wiki.contribs.org/GroupOffice. But during install I get the folowing error:

MySQL installation:
Creating MySQL User and DataBase...
mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)'
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)'

and expextedly when I try to do my first logon a myserver/groupoffice I get the follwing error:

Database error: connect(localhost, gofficeuser, $Password) failed.
MySQL Error: ()
Session halted.

What do I do?

hi..

please, do this test:
open you console and do

mysql

you should go to mysql command line..

if no (access denied), you have something wrong with your mysql password.. please search the forum and the wiki to re-initialize your mysql root password

if yes, give "quit", look in /var/log/messages

How do you try to access MySQL? Did you perhaps in the past change the MySQL root user password. If you did please reset it like this: http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:FAQ#Resetting_the_MySQL_root_password

Now I've reset the password for root - that was the problem. But what do I do with the failed installation? Do I try to uninstall and do a new install afterwards or do I just try to install again?

Uninstalled, uninstalled "hard", reinstalled, and now it's up and running.

Now I'm really looking forward to someone adding version 3! Looks so much better - but still, this is a great improvement compared to horde.

I believe that is not possible until SME Server 8 is released as this requires PHP5/MySQL 5.
