I assume you are using an e-smith server to run this bulletin board. Is it possible to turn in on with 3.0

GERALD:  Glad you figured out the email/sitename problem! Our e-smith bboard is not included in our product because we did it using MySQL which isn't open source (yet).  If an open source version of MySQL becomes available, we'd be able to include it.   Roger Wrethman from e-Scape in South Africa has done some significant improvements to our bboard which we'll be implementing over the next few weeks. (e.g. threading)  Cheers! Kim

Regarding the above post about MySQL and open source: About a week or so ago MySQL released an older version of their software under GPL. However if you want to use the most recent version you will have to live with their current licence.

TIM: MySQL LICENSING.... Hi Tim! Thanks for the post about MySQL!  Licensing an old version of their product as open source is a great step in the right direction, but not sufficient for us to immediately commit to it...  It's great they are doing it, but we're in a "wait and see" holding pattern to see both what the company does next and what happens with the open version.   :-)  Kim

Hi,

why don't you document how your bulletin board is set up so e-smith users can decide to live with the mysql license form themselves.

Is it possible to install the rpms for the latest version of MySql on an E-Smith server? Will I then be able to use perl or php with Apache and MySql with no additional work?

There are a number of "web applications" I want to setup on my E-Smith server, but I don't want to mess up the basic install, is you understand what I mean.

Cheers
Mike
