Virus Scan Stops Email
« on: January 16, 2009, 12:20:32 PM »
Hi All, not sure whats happened but stopped getting email, I think somewhere round the time of an update. Anyway I discovered that email would be received if I switch off Virus Scanning. /var/log/mailog says ;

server fetchmail: SMTP error: 452 message denied temporarily

Any tips on how to debug this one?

Thanks!

btw I googled smtp error msg and got ;

452    Requested action not taken: insufficient system storage

which doesnt seem to tie in with the above. I have also read some threads about permissions on certain directories. Can anyone confirm permissions on a healthy clam / sme installation or how to reset them OR howto re-install the latest sme-clam pkg via yum perhaps?

If this happened after an update you should report it in the bugtracker. Upgrades should just work, if they don't the bugtracker is the place to be. If you have reported the issue please post the referrence to the bug for future readers.

I cant be certain that it was related to an update, hence asking here first.

I suggest you report it to the bugtracker as this will result in the problem being resolved the quickest. If it might not be a bug they might point you back to the proper channel, which might be the forums.

Created a bug report - turns out others had similar issues and did the same.

Comment #8 in this report resolved the issue [thanks Charlie]

Lesson learnt: Don't read too many old SME forum posts (or forums of general Linux sites)
Don't change anything unless you are absolutely certain it is related to your problem.
