Webmail access not happenning from public domain
« on: February 05, 2009, 02:43:22 PM »
Hi,

I am using SME 7.4 as a webmail server in my company for the past 2 months. All this time, I was able to access the webmail (using the https://mydomain/webmail/ format) from public domain as well as local network. Only today as I am trying to access the webmail  I am getting a page load error. The browser is giving me an error that reads:

Connection Interrupted
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.

Please note that when I enter the address in addressbox and press enter, the status bar of browser switches these messages
"Connected mydomainname"
"Connecting mydomainname"
It does this 9-10 times and then displays the error.

I have tried using both Internet explorer as well as Mozilla but the problem remains.

Also note that I am able to access the webmail from local network. It is only giving error from public domain.

I have tried to reboot the server 2-3 times and have updated it regularly.

Please help.

PJ

Could your ISP be blocking incoming traffic?

This is unlikely to be an SME  issue. It could be an ISP block, as Boris suggested, or some kind of setting issue if you have a router or similar device between your server and the Internet. Can you access your root site from the Internet - i.e. http://mydomain.com? Can you ping it?

What happens when you try to use the server's IP address directly? (e.g. https://192.168.1.1/webmail)

Thanks a lot for the responses. I am in a discussion with the ISP who is looking into this issue.
