Backup tp cartridge drive Tandeberg RDX Quickstor?
« on: February 13, 2009, 09:49:25 AM »
Is it possible to use the built in /sbin/do_backup to work with a cartridge drive namely Tandeberg RDX?

I have just installed one and have an 40GB and 80GB carts. The connection is via SATA and its recognised as /dev/sdc

I ammended /etc/flexbackup.conf to use /dev/sdc instead of nst0 which didnt work so I guess my ignorance is becoming glaringly obvious right here.

I reckon these devices are just like internal hard discs but would like to use with the standard SME tapebackup stuff if poss ...

OR is something like DAR2 the only way?

Any advice appreciated!

I've been looking at those units, but haven't really had the need for one yet. I've been using Iomega REV drives up till now and i think those RDX units are also RRD's. REV cartridges are formatted UDF an were mounted as CD players by default.

I think if you follow my old bug-report on the REV-drive you'll be able to work out how to mount it as an usbdisk and do a workstation backup to it. Add a bug for it and it might be added to SME as well (so it'll get properly set by the time i have the use for one ;) ).

HTH,
jester.

Connecting to dev/sdc
mount: can't find dev/sdc in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab

Thought it was meant to create its own mount points etc !!!
