Call recording (One touch recording)
« on: March 25, 2009, 06:17:45 AM »
Hi All,

I did do a search on Call Recording using SAIL but I couldn't determined the state of this feature, whether it's currently working or not. I apologise if I've missed something and am going over a already hashed topic.

Simply put I cannot seem to get SAIL's One Touch Recording function to work. I've set it up in Global Settings and my features.conf file shows "automon=>1".

However when I press 1 during a call I get a tone but nothing else and no files placed either in /var/spool/asterisk/monitor or in the primary ibay.

Can anyone help with this? It is urgent that I get this working.

Cheers,

Adam

What version of SAIL are you running?

OTR is inbound only and will only run if you select one-touch in the recording section in Globals.

You should also be aware that it will only record from the point you hit the "1", unlike full-blown SARK which has the option of both inbound and outbound OTRR (One-touch retrospective - doesn't matter when you hit the record key, you still get the full call recording).

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

OTR is inbound only and will only run if you select one-touch in the recording section in Globals.

I have set the Call Recording option in Global Settings to "One Touch", the other options are Inbound, Outbound, Both. I don't know what does what as I couldn't find a reference to them in the manual.

What do you mean by inbound only? Do you mean that it will only record the inbound channel or that it will only record when a call is an inbound call, not an outbound call.

Thats fine. Under Australian law (actually it varies from state to state) you can only record a conversation when both parties of the conversation are aware of the recording, so you must first alert them to the fact you INTEND to record, they then have the option of requesting that no recording be made and if you refuse to discontinue recording they have the option of terminating the call. So the SARK feature is not legal in Australia as the conversation can only be recorded from the point that both parties were made aware of the intention to record a call.

Please clarify it, is there a different version?

Clarity

There are features we offer in SARK (High availability, advanced VR, T1/E1 dynamic switchover, QueueMetrics integration, PoylGate etc.) which aren't in SAIL.

Hi selintra,

Can you respond to my questions above?

I still haven't been able to record any telephone calls with SAIL. This seems to be a very confused area of SAIL and there is very little documentation about it.

Many thanks,

Adam

One Touch is correct for what you want to do.  Inbound/outbound/both refer to permanent recording.

Inbound Call - both channels are always recorded.

We've recently been doing some work on recording for a couple of our call centre customers.  I'll have someone check out One-Touch on 719 for you.  - couple of days

I am a little confused, in this thread it says to press 1 for one touch recording yet in the docs wiki it says *1 for one touch recording!
I actually don't need to use it very often so when I do I just use my X-Lite softphone which does record inbound or outbound calls.  :cool:

I take it that "Full Blown SARK" is your paid for commercial offering? Not a different version?

AFAIK the * is to divert the handset's input to Asterisk, as if you were dialling voicemail for example.

From the docs:
Key: *1
Data:none
Function: One Touch Record
Availability/Terminal Type:internal Activates call recording
Comment:This is an in-band request

yes it is confusing.

look in features.conf - whatever is set for automon is the key sequence to press.  You can change it to whatever you like...

Code: [Select]
[general]
parkext=>*5
parkpos=>100-101
context=>parkedcalls
parkingtime=>180
transferdigittimeout=>3
courtesytone=beep
;adsipark=yes
pickupexten=*8
[featuremap]
blindxfer=>##
;disconnect=>*0
automon=>*7
;atxfer=*2
[applicationmap]

If you choose a multiple key sequence be aware that you need to hit the keys pretty smartish for it to work.  The default Digium delay is 500mz between key taps.

I've installed build 745 but I still not getting any joy. Recording just doesn't seem to be working.

Hi, same here. I searched the forums and it says that it keeps the recordings under the folder monitor, but this folder does not exist  :shock:
