Backup and Restore problem
« on: April 01, 2009, 09:54:00 AM »
Hi, I am just starting to evaluate SME with a view to installing at a customers office. All has been fine until I tried a backup and restore. The backup completed and verified but was very quick. I restored the data and now the Backup and Restore page in server manager keeps telling "You must reboot the server to activate any configuration changes that were made as a result of this restore." I have rebooted several times.

Any ideas?

TIA Mark

Welcome to the forums :)

Try issuing the following command at the command prompt:

Code: [Select]
signal-event post-upgrade ; signal-event reboot

How exactly did you perform the backup? Did you do anything else other than the main install (such as running an update)?

Hi Thanks for the quick reply.
I had only just installed the 7.4 version, created some user accounts and a couple of shared folders. Then ran the backup to USB before verifying and restoring.
How do I get to the command prompt? I have installed Putty but that gives me the server console.

Regards, Mark

If you log in as root over Putty, using the admin password, you'll get the command prompt.
