AWstats yum error
« on: April 01, 2009, 09:43:26 PM »
Hi all

I've got a new system I'm putting up.  I've loaded SME 7.4 and have let yum do it's prerepo set up and have received yum's blessing the the system is uptodate.  Now I'm trying to put AWstats up on the system. I'm running the following command.

yum --enablerepo=smecontribs install smeserver-awstats

Yum starts out doing it's setting up, and then gets an urlopen failure.

Loading "smeserver" plugin
Loading "fastestmirror" plugin
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Setting up Install Process
Setting up repositories
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/smeserver/releases/7/smecontribs/i386/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 12] Timeout: <urlopen error timed out>
Trying other mirror.
http://mirror.pacific.net.au/linux/smeserver/releases/7/smecontribs/i386/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error (-3, 'Temporary failure in name resolution')>
Trying other mirror.

Yum continues until it has tried all of the mirrors.  I've got other servers running where I have gone through this process without any problems. I'm probably missing something easy, but can't see it.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Jerry

hi

as error messages are telling you, you have probably a problem with your internet connection..

please logon on console as admin user and test internet connection.

OK your right.  I ran the connection test from the admin panel and failed the test.  I don't understand how yum is able do it's prereposetup.  I changed the IP I was using and reconfigured the server to the new IP.  Yum started running the prereposetup instantly.  I'm not sure why I am failing the test.  I'm plugging into an unused IP. ???

That is all done with local information AFAIK.

All is good.  I figured out that I had a bad cable after spending time swapping out the network cards. I just completed the installation of AWstats.  Sure is nice when everything works right.

Thanks for the help
