Store the Contents of /users and /ibays on External NAS Device

I was thinking of setting up my server to work with a NAS device. I would like the SME OS to be maintained on one device and the contents of the users and ibays directories to be mounted from an external NAS device.

How difficult would it be to set this up?

I was thinking of using http://www.openfiler.com/ for the software to run the NAS device. This assumes that I don't find a better solution for the NAS device and that I can figure out how to set it up.

Below is a layout of my network currently with showing the proposed NAS device.

Thanks for your help.

Why?: I would think that it would make hardware upgrades easier and quicker. If the OS goes down I should be able to preform a restore of the OS quicker. I have the extra hardware sitting in my closet.

Sorry about the authentication problem. I think that it is fixed now.

Thanks again.

I see that you are from Treviso. Very cool my wife was born in Ischia (40.724942N, 13.931164E). We travel to visit her family there every other year.

if you use Affa your hw upgrade could be almost "hot-swap".. and if you have a backup (on your NAS, for example), restoring SME after a hw fault will be quick too.

Sorry, I can not. I can understand the basic subject and meaning of a conversation but I can not converse back too well.
