All good input, howto updated with section on improving security.

Since people never read documentation to the end, I would just remove the insecure usage. As a teaching tool, you could still explain lower down why you've done it the way you do.

Sigh... It looks like desktop restore was removed in 7.4! That really puts a crimp in my remote management. I guess I will have to hack it back in on my servers at least. With some of my machines on the other side of the world, building a new machine is simply not an option.

I have however added a restore section to may Howto referencing the current recommended method (even though it does not work for me) and a link to some alternatives described in the "Backup server config" howto.

I have also made the reading of the password from a file much more prominent and also show more clearly how to use a proxy if needed.
