Reading thousands of Emails in webmail
« on: June 04, 2009, 09:44:14 PM »
Hello All.   I have a server I setup to log ALL Email (incoming and outgoing) to a specific Email account called maillog.  I did this for legal reasons so we could go back and retrieve mail from or to anybody.   Now we have 72,000 plus messages and I need to look some mail up.  When I try to download the mail into Outlook 2007 (set to IMAP) Outlook just dies.  If I go into webmail, it shows the correct number of messages next to the "inbox" icon, but never displays any messages.  Nor does the search function seem to work.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how a person could look at and search thier IMAP messages other than shelling in and moring  72K messages.

On the Wiki there's the Maillarchiva contrib designed just for that.

Hello All.  Thanks for the replies.   I tried Thunderbird, and it downloaded ALL 70K+ messages OK.
