I just want to get rid of sme server and install a different os but i can't figure it out

OK, I'll bite ... how about putting the OS install CD/DVD into the drive, booting from that and going forward?  If you need to wipe the drive beforehand, get the "Ultimate Boot CD" (google is your friend as always, or maybe "BING!") and use Darik's Boot & Nuke or the drive manufacturer's utility to erase the drive THEN use the OS install CD.

I've tried booting from 3 different discs. it isn't giving me the option to boot from cd it just loads up sme

this is not a SME issue.. it's a PEBKAC one..

hint: check your bios setup
