I have been asked to access a consultants ftp site.
They gave me a host name, user name, and password.
Can someone please help me with accessing this external ftp site using sme.
Is there a idiots guide to access using windows base client ftp programs or
web brower how to.

What sme setting are required to allow full permission to an external ftp site.

please help

No settings are required on your SME box.  All you need to do is make sure your FTP client is using PASV (passive) mode.  In CuteFTP it's under Edit then Settings.

yes i'am using FTP client in using PASV (passive) mode.
normally the url or host name is "ftp.XXXX.com.au" with username and password added in the setting.
Is it the same going thur sme.

and thur web brower I been trying ftp://ftp.XXXX.com.au with no joy.
a proxy permission error comes up....
